Rights & Responsibilities

Patient Rights & Responsibilities options

Your Rights and Medical Records

At JS Global Hospital, we retain your medical records for a minimum of 20 years from the date you last received care.
After this time, if records are destroyed, they are disposed of securely to protect your personal information from unauthorized access.

Secondary records (such as test tracings) are typically kept by individual departments for five years and include:

  • Electrocardiogram (ECG) tracings

  • Electroencephalographs (EEGs)

  • Electronic fetal monitoring strips

  • Radiology films and scans

  • Raw psychological testing data

Written reports from these tests remain part of your permanent medical record. Some departments may retain secondary records longer based on medical or legal needs.

Your Rights and Access to Medicare

The Protecting Access to Medicare Act (PAMA) promotes the use of appropriate diagnostic imaging for Medicare patients.
At JS Global Hospital, we follow PAMA’s guidelines and appropriate use criteria (AUC) before ordering imaging tests such as:

  • Computed Tomography (CT)

  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

  • Nuclear Medicine Tests

  • Positron Emission Tomography (PET)

For more information about PAMA and the AUC Program, visit the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services website.
